Teens and children have been experiencing a spike in mental health challenges. Children’s Hospital of Colorado declared a pediatric mental health state of emergency last year. Some schools have made attempts to increase mental health support on campus, but demand for services can easily outpace the supply of counselors. Teens are often left to their own devices…but sometimes those devices can be relatable books.
As part of our week highlighting the voices of teen volunteers with the KGNU News Department, we hear from Phoebe Donovan. Over the course of this year Phoebe – who is in the 9th grade – has become KGNU’s Young Adult book reviewer. She made time during her winter school break to read the new release, The Art of Insanity and speak with the book’s author, Christine Webb.
