What shows do you host on KGNU and how long have you been with the station?
I am fortunate to be one of the hosts of Dub Palace, Reggae Transfusion, Reggae Bloodlines, and where it all started… Sleepless Nights ! I have been with KGNU since 2013.
Who is your favorite artist and/or album of all time?
I’m a huge fan of the early pioneers of rock n roll, like Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and James Brown. Roll Over Beethoven is a song I can’t ever get tired of, and that’s because it is part of my childhood, and the music I was exposed to a lot growing up. Later on in life, I found Reggae, and that lolisn’t as easy to narrow down , the vast amount of reggae makes it so that I have MANY favorites, the music is vibrant, and diverse, and I cant get enough of it.
What is your Zodiac sign and what (if anything) does it say about you?
I’m a Virgin ( VIRGO ). A very meticulous one at that. I can tell by the way I carefully program my shows on KGNU. From the speed / tempo… to What different KEY the music is composed in ( thanks to modern technology like Serato DJ PRO) I’m able to satisfy my needs and present what I like to consider a world class performance.
If you could have any musician’s record collection, whose would it be?
That’s a good question… if I were to have any musicians record collection it would have to be JAH LIFE. From what I have seen/heard he has such a diverse selection of music, not only Reggae, he also collects Jazz , and Blues, And various other genres. If there was one collection I’d like to dig around in, it’s his.
What song do you never get tired of playing on air?
Song ? You mean have to pick only one ?! Whew .. Party Time the Heptones is up there, Wisdom by Jah Lion, Igziabeher by Peter Tosh, to name a few I mean I could go on and on.. like I said earlier though.. Roll Over Beethoven is my all time favorite as is a riddim / track by Sound Dimension Called Bad Treatment, I can never get enough of it.
What is something most people would be surprised to learn about you?
I’m a very good cook / baker . Before being immersed in being a dj, i was and still am obsessed with cooking. Baking is probably my specialty, and i am fascinated with Caribbean cuisine.
