The later than usual snow fall has had ski resorts around the state concerned. Joel Gratz, founding meteorologist of Open Snow.com says that most of the ski areas have opened two weeks late.
“I would say that it’s unusual that a lot of ski areas couldn’t open by late October to early November, but not unheard of. We do have dry years in the Fall in Colorado and this was one of them, but the good news is that the forecast from Thanksgiving to the middle of December is looking stormy, colder, what we look for as skiers and snowboarders and what the ski areas are looking for.”
Gratz says that a storm coming in over the Colorado Mountains on Wednesday night should see several inches of snow at the ski areas along the I-70 corridor.”
