Conviction: Play and Discussion at Dairy Arts Center

“The themes are very relevant, very poignant, especially considering the weeks that we’re in now.”

Conviction, is a one man show currently playing at the Dairy Arts Center in Boulder. The award-winning play is based on a prisoner file dating back to the Spanish Inquisition and sheds light on the struggle to keep faith and identity under extreme oppression.

Each performance will be followed by a panel discussion addressing the themes from the play, putting them in context within history and modern society.

Oriel Eisner is curating a series of panel discussions that occur after each performance. He says those conversations further explore the themes of faith, oppression and suppression of identity that are explored in the play.  He says the panel discussions are meant to deepen the audience engagement of these themes.

The panelists include community and faith leaders, academics, artists, and experts in related fields.  Kathryn Bernheimer, Boulder Jewish Film Festival Founding Director, who will be participating in one of the panels, says that the discussions add extra weight to the performance of the play.

“The conversation afterwards is so valuable and I was so thrilled [Ami Dayan, producer and actor] was doing the series for that reason.”

Conviction will be performed at the Dairy Arts Center in Boulder November 25th through November 27th and December 1st through December 4th.  Each performance will be followed by a panel discussion with each panel exploring different issues.
