Fashion Designer Prep Curry Says Get Your Face Out There For Juneteenth

Juneteenth, enacted last year as a federal holiday, commemorates the day when the U.S. Army announced the freedom of 250,000 slaves in Galveston, Texas. Cities across the Front Range are hosting Juneteenth celebrations this weekend.

On Sunday in Longmont, the city will have music, food, a DJ, workshops, and a fashion show. KGNU’s Areyana Proctor talked with Longmont city council member Shiquita Yarbrough and fashion designer Prep Curry about the event. Curry is hosting Sunday’s fashion show and shares his experience of going from periodic homelessness to becoming the first African American designer to partner with Banana Republic.
