Dr. Katharine K. Wilkinson brings climate hope and action to the Boulder Bookstore KGNU News
By Jenny Ellis
The Boulder Bookstore hosted a book talk and signing Thursday, May 14 with author, teacher, activist, podcaster and executive director Dr. Katharine K. Wilkinson. She shared reflections on her latest work, “Climate Wayfinding: Healing Ourselves and the Planet We Call Home.”
Wilkinson, who holds a Ph.D. in Geography and Environment from the University of Oxford and has authored multiple books including “All We Can Save” and “Between God and Green.” Wilkinson is widely recognized as a leading voice in the climate movement.
Her work focuses on reshaping cultural narratives around the climate crisis and helping people navigate climate anxiety toward action.
Through her work, Wilkinson emphasizes that feelings of isolation and hopelessness around the climate crisis can, over time, be transformed into action. She has worked in the climate space for more than 27 years, encouraging a shift from paralysis to engagement. In her latest book she continues that approach through storytelling and reflection.
Published just days before her Boulder stop, “Climate Wayfinding” was presented as a “walk with you” guide rather than a directive.
The book combines poems, meditations, journaling prompts, artwork, and practical exercises designed to help readers engage with climate issues in a more personal and accessible way. Wilkinson also read excerpts and signed books for attendees at the event.
