In the first half of the show we speak with Brian Becker in advance of two talks in Denver and Boulder on "The New Cold War and the New McCarthyism." Brian Becker is the national director of the ANSWER Coalition and has helped to organize and lead many of the largest anti-war demonstrations in the United States. He's stood for Palestinian rights as equals to that of Israelis countless times and opposed US aggression in Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Nicagagua and Cuba to name a few. His involvement against George Bush's invasion of Iraq led to the largest anti-war crowds in US history. Last March Brian helped set up the US Out of Ukraine demonstrations seen in major cities across the US.He is the host of The Socialist Program, a news show that discusses world events from a socialist and activist perspective. Brian has appeared on many major news outlets as an analyst of international affairs.  An author or co-author of many books and articles, he recently wrote the preface to "China's Revolution and the Quest for a Socialist Future", a comprehensive introduction to the socialist revolution in China. He is an initiating member of Pivot to Peace, a coalition of Americans and global citizens who oppose the growing confrontation between the United States and China. Pivot to Peace seeks to educate and mobilize public opinion to support cooperation and mutual respect between the two countries. In part two of tonight's episode, KGNU's Verity Matthews speaks with Steven Haden, co-founder and CEO of Envision: You a nonprofit organization committed to the health and wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ community – and what that means for friends, family, students, teachers, allies and employers – and the bottom dollar line.
