It is Thursday, July 2nd, and time for your Civic Action Calendar, a weekly summary of actions and events hosted by community-based organizations across the Front Range.
Today, Thursday, July 2 at 1:30pm Boulder County Commissioners will dis the proposal to put a moratorium on data centers and ICE detention camps in the county.
You can attend in person or online to support this proposal, oppose data centers and detention camps, and oppose Boulder County using B-I [Pronounced: Bee-Eye], a GEO subsidiary! Details and register bouldercounty [dot] gov ‘s commissioner page.
Also today, Thursday July 2ND from 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m, independent volunteer organizers will host an anti-ICE protest on the street near the Aurora GEO ICE facility.
The organizers say they will be standing on the corner of Peoria & 30TH Avenue to raise awareness. They will be handing out flyers and messaging to traffic to get their message out. More information can be found at
Saturday, July 4TH from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m, SoBoCo Indivisible will host their We Are America! Demonstration in Superior, CO.
Organizers say they’ll be stationed on all four corners surrounding the Tesla dealership, where thousands of passing drivers can see demonstrators’ signs, flags, and messages. They urge demonstrators to wear red, white, and blue, and bring your energy and a friend. More information can be found on mobilize.us.
Another action happening on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m is Weld County Indivisible’s 4th of July Protect Democracy Rally taking place at the Weld County Courthouse, 901 9th Ave., Greeley
Activists will rally on the Weld County courthouse steps. Organizers are asking participants to bring a song you’d like to sing, a short reading, a chant you’d like to lead, or a short speech.
Another action is taking place on Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm. Indivisible is organizing the Start Your 4th of July Right! Event taking place at 7100 Grandview Ave. in Arvada
Organizers advise rally-goers to dress for the heat, bringing water and sunscreen, and they also warn not to forget your best protest signs, t-shirts, and costumes if you wish!
And if you live in Longmont, you can protest on Saturday, July 4 from noon to 2 p.m. with the Longmont Leads with Love Team at their weekly vigil and rally located on the corner of 6th and Main Street in Longmont.
Longmont Leads with Love is an independent rally to show public support or protest in the community.
And coming up on Sunday, July 5th from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., One Broomfield is organizing a rally – No Fascists! No Kings! At the Intersection of W. 120th Ave. & Sheridan Blvd. in Broomfield
This rally is dedicating themselves to protesting actions by the federal government, including increased immigration enforcement activity in Colorado.
