Five years after the King Soopers shooting, Erika Mahoney reflects on the “web of pain” the tragedy left behind Abby O'Brien

Five years ago, on Mar. 22, 2021, ten Boulder community members were killed in a mass shooting at the Table Mesa King Soopers grocery store. This Sunday will be the five year anniversary of the tragedy, and the city of Boulder is hosting its third annual Boulder Strong Day of Remembrance.

One of those community members who will be remembered was Kevin Mahoney. KGNU’s Abby O’Brien spoke with his daughter, journalist Erika Mahoney, about what it means to her to reflect on the loss of her father five years later.

The Day of Remembrance event to honor the survivors and those who lost their lives will be held at the Museum of Boulder from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m.

Erika’s podcast about the King Soopers shooting, Senseless, is available wherever you listen to podcasts.
