New documentary puts Boulder at the center of the Quantum revolution KGNU News
By DeRae Logan
Quantum technology is often described in lofty, academic terms—dense science that feels miles away from daily life. But a new documentary is aiming to change that by bringing the experts out of the lab and onto the screen. To celebrate the film’s premiere at the Dairy Arts Center, reporter DeRae Logan sat down with the creators to discuss why the ‘Quantum’ story is actually a human one, and why Boulder ‘punches above its weight’ on the world stage.
What does the future of national security, computing, and human innovation look like? According to a new documentary premiering at Boulder’s Dairy Arts Center, the answer is being written right in our backyard.
The film moves past the dense equations of quantum physics to highlight the “rebels and entrepreneurs” driving the industry forward. From the high-stakes world of global arms races to the local labs of NIST and JILA, the documentary explores how Boulder has become one of the most significant quantum ecosystems on the planet.
In this feature, we hear from Director Evan Kubes and Producers Guy Ellis and Dan Caruso about the ethics of emerging tech and the specific “human endeavor” of innovation. As one audience member put it, the film finally “brings quantum back down to earth.”
