The Caribou Current is Boulder’s new, free arts & culture newspaper Abby O'Brien
The Caribou Current is a new arts & culture publication covering Boulder County and the Peak to Peak region, recently launched under the auspices of The Mountain-Ear in Nederland. Journalist Shay Castle and managing editor Jezy Gray joined us in the studio to discuss what readers can expect.
Gray said “after the collapse of Boulder Weekly over the summer, I think the biggest gap that was left in this community was a need for narrative-driven, human-level arts reporting. And that’s the niche that we stepped up to fill.”
The Current plans to cover a wide range of arts-related topics, from previews, profiles, and long-form journalism to short hits and roundups.
“Basically, anything that touches all the different arts disciplines that we care about in this community,” Gray said. “Not only will you find the best concert to go to this weekend, whether that’s death metal or bluegrass or something in between, but you’ll also find what’s going on with Boulder Ballet or what’s happening at the Dairy Arts Center.”
Find the Caribou Current newspaper in free publication boxes across downtown Boulder and the Peak to Peak. The latest edition was released last Thursday, Mar. 5.
