Youth from Aurora’s Empower High Share Thoughts and Poetry

KGNU recently received a visit from a group of students from Empower High School in Aurora. Most of them are incoming freshmen and all were participating in a summer workshop facilitated by Meta Sarmiento, the school’s Director of Culture and Enrollment.

Nine students came to Boulder to have their poetry recorded in our production studios and four agreed to be interviewed and to share their poems with our listeners with parental permission.

News Director Shannon Young spoke with Meta Sarmiento, Director of Culture and Enrollment at Empower High and four incoming freshmen; CJ Esparza, Davier Tatum, Lydia Smith and Christian Brown.
