A Vet for Your Vet: Will Colorado’s new Veterinary Professional Associate position aid vet mental health?

Veterinarians, nonprofit advocacy groups and pet owners have been debating if there is, or if there will be, a shortage of veterinarians in the near future. The American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges believes that by 2032, 24 percent of veterinarian jobs will go unfilled, however the American Veterinary Medical Association believes there is “no dire shortage of veterinarians anticipated in coming years.”

Dire or not, Colorado became the first state to legalize the Veterinary Professional Associate (VPA) position. Jack Armstrong has the story.
