OutSources: Trial By Fire – Remembering the Life of Julian Rush

This week we are revisiting our interview with United Methodist minister Julian Rush from 2015. Julian figured prominently in the national LGBTQ rights movement, particularly after he was deemed unfit to continue in his position as youth minister at the First United Methodist Church of Boulder, Colorado in the 1980’s for being gay.

After moving to Denver, Julian became the founding director of the Colorado AIDS Project. Julian passed away in 2023, and in this 2015 interview he reflected on both the lessons he had learned in his years of service, as well as the significance of being recognized as one of the 2015 Denver Pride Grand Marshals.
