[Soneffs play a few songs]
Iris Berkeley: We got Soneffs here in the Kabaret studio here for the Afternoon Sound Alternative here on KGNU Community Radio. I’m Iris Berkeley, but more importantly, okay, I’m gonna ask you guys to introduce yourselves. I know there’s a lot of vocal reverb happening. So we’re gonna play this by ear, but you want to say hi.
Soneffs (Archie): My name is Archie. I’m the guitarist or Arturo is my real name.
Soneffs (Carlos – Bassists): I am Carlos. I am the bassist
Iris Berkeley: And we got a drummer who’s making his way over. He’s making his way over.
Soneffs (Carlos – Drummer): Yeah, I’m Carlos the guitar, not guitarist, I’m Carlos the drummer.
Iris Berkeley: Awesome, what’d we open with, guys?
Soneffs: That first song was a song called Dry. That one’s just one we came up with one time. No real special meaning to it. We’re working on lyrics for it though. So that one’s soon to have lyrics more like a poem.
Iris Berkeley: And so you’re gonna be, you’re gonna be joining for this. You’re on the bill for the Punk Standard Show, right? On the 8th?
Soneffs: Yeah, we’re on that.
Iris Berkeley: Tell us a little bit about you guys and where are you from, how you got started, all that good stuff.
Soneffs (Carlos – Drummer): Sure. Yeah we’re from Denver, Colorado. All of us were born and raised in Denver. We actually met each other. We’ve known each other for a while. I’ve known Carlos since first grade, and then we met Archie in sixth grade.
Iris Berkeley: Okay, this is a long standing story. When did you start playing together as a band, though?
Soneffs (Archie): I’d probably say two years ago. We started off as a two piece. So it was just me and Carlos at first, and then last year, Carlos, on the bass, joined us. That’s been a real treat.
Iris Berkeley: Double Carlos. Awesome. We are, we’re hearing from the listeners. I want to give you, I want to give you a chance to like, especially get back behind the drums there, but big ups to Mike who’s tuning in. I got to share this. He says, maybe the most fun artists in the studio in the illustrious history of the Afternoon Sound Alternative or the Morning Sound Alternative. So you already got fans. You want to we’ve, we’re running a little bit short on time, but you want to give us a few more songs before the top of the hour? We got a rapid top the hour, but you want to give us two more? What are we going to hear?
Soneffs: We’re going to hear Floral, which is out, our only single that’s out and then Carpet, which is going to be on our EP coming out.
Iris Berkeley: When’s the EP coming out?
Soneffs: We’ll say summer ish.
Iris Berkeley: Alright, take it away.
[Soneffs plays Floral and Carpet]
Iris Berkeley: Soneffs, ladies and gents, and everyone in between here on the Afternoon Sound Alternative on KGNU Community Radio. That’s KGNU FM 88.5 Boulder, KGNU 1390 Denver. Thank you so much, guys.
Soneffs: Yeah, thank you for having us.
Iris Berkeley: It’s been a pleasure to have you.
Soneffs: Thank you.
Iris Berkeley: If you are listening, you want to hear these guys play live alongside Chair Bomb. They’re going to be doing a show on Saturday, February 8th. You can learn more about that at punkstandard.com. Anything else you want to share before we let you out of the 5,000 degree Kabaret studio? It’s warm in there. I don’t know what that’s about.
Soneffs: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Thank you guys again for having us. If you guys want to check us out on Instagram, check us out @soneffs.band, S O N E F F S.
Iris Berkeley: One N, two Fs.
Soneffs: Yeah, and then we have stuff on Spotify too.
Iris Berkeley: Alright. Cool, cool. Thanks again for coming in. Have a great rest of your day.
