On this episode of the Labor Exchange we travel to Leadville, Colorado for the unveiling of a new memorial commemorating the 1100 unmarked graves of the Catholic Pauper section of Evergreen Cemetery.
We hear from Jim Walsh, Professor of Labor History at the University of Colorado at Denver on what it took to make this tribute a reality.
The memorial is closely tied to Colorado’s labor history being home to the Cloud City Miners’ Union Local No. 33 of the Western Federation of Miners and a place where Colorado drew out many of its early labor leaders.
