In 1993, at the age of 20, Colorado author Micah Springer backpacked through Africa with her best friend. On her travels, she fell in love with a nomadic pastoral warrior. Twenty-five years after that love affair, Springer has published her memoir, Keepers of The Story.

Keepers of the Story: Sustainable Publishing KGNU News
When Springer was looking to have the book published, she realized the massive environmental impact of traditional book publishing. She wanted to have her book printed sustainably on recycled paper, and as she had no support in that effort from traditional publishing houses, she published the book herself working with the Seattle Book Company.
She hopes her experience will inspire other authors to seek a more sustainable path in publishing their work.
