This past weekend community members in Denver, Lafayette, Louisville and Boulder gathered to protest the Trump administration, specifically the recent misconduct of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) across the nation. On Friday, national organizers called for no work, no school, no shopping, and a general strike.  Over a thousand students and teachers from Denver Public Schools reportedly walked out in solidarity. Many marched from their schools to meet at the rally in La Alma Lincoln Park in west Denver. Protests also popped up over the weekend.

In Louisville and Lafayette, reporter John Kelin asked protestors why they were there.

“They’re killing people, you know, killing people living here. It’s not defending us from anybody,” one protester said. “I just like democracy, and the Trump regime is not a democracy.”

Jack Armstrong attended Friday’s “ICE Out” protest in Boulder, a march from the University of Colorado Wolf Law Building to the Pearl Street Mall. He spoke with students as they marched about their motivations. Sagan Randall, a student reporter with the CU Independent, covered the protests that took place on campus.
