“Grief is a lifelong journey”: Processing and managing grief

From left to right: Ellen Mahoney, Oliver, Erika Mahoney.

Grief is a natural part of the world that we live in, but that doesn’t mean that it’s easy – especially when your grief is a result of a widely covered tragedy.

Erika Mahoney, whose father was killed in the 2021 King Soopers mass shooting, joined  KGNU’s Jackie Sedley to discuss the journey of processing and managing grief. As well as the importance of reliable media in the face of disaster.

Mahoney also discusses the podcast she’s currently working on called Senseless which will launch this June. Senseless explores the themes of grief and trauma. This upcoming first season will focus on Boulder, and how a community moves forward after experiencing a mass shooting like the one in 2021.
