Boulder County Watershed Summit: Climate Change May Reduce Water Supply

“Climate Change has emerged as a variable that we need to start including in our long range planning.” Laurna Kaatz is the climate scientist for the Planning Division at Denver Water.  She helps bring climate science into the policy realm. She was one of the participants at the recent Boulder County Watershed Summit.  Kaatz says if temperature continue to increase, water supplies could be reduced nearly 25% by 2050.

Nolan Doesken, the state climatologist for the state of Colorado was another participant in the summit. He says if our models are anywhere close to correct, the extreme weather we saw in 2012 will become the typical weather pattern in the state.
