Advocacy Denver

KGNU’s Tish Beauford speaks with Advocacy Denver, a non-profit, civil rights advocacy organization serving children, teens and adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities — as well as their families — throughout the Denver community.

Today’s guests are Pam Bisceglia, the Coordinator for Child and Family Advocacy. As a single parent of a child with a disability, Pam has first-hand knowledge of family resources in Denver. Problem-solving, sensitivity, experience and knowledge of community resources for children and adults with disabilities are among her strengths. She is a devoted professional for individuals in need, bringing deep knowledge of public school operations and their obligation under state and federal law. Pam has been with Advocacy Denver since 2011. Pam is currently the Interim Director of Advocacy.

Scott Utash was hired as the advocate for the Children’s Mental Health Program at Advocacy Denver in the fall of 2015. Scott holds a B.S. in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. Scott has more than 35 years of experience working for and advocating with people with disabilities and previously served at Advocacy Denver (1999-2000) as the Justice Coordinator for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities or Mental Illness. He also served on the Board of Directors for Advocacy Denver. Scott is currently the Interim Director of Operations at Advocacy Denver.
