University Press of Colorado Celebrates 50 Years in Publishing

“University Presses exist to do what wouldn’t otherwise get done.”

Darrin Pratt is the director of University Press in Colorado, a non profit cooperative which is turning 50 this year, says they publish scholarly books that don’t have a clear commercial interest. He says in addition to publishing books by academia for academia but Pratt says University Presses occasionally break out of that mold and reach a wider audience. University Press of Colorado published the first book by local best-selling author Margaret Coel.
