Integrating Health Care

“Now the fight is to get it into everybody’s practice. Sometimes that means taking a medical health practitioner and embedding them in an existing mental health facility.”

Integrated care means that when you go to your primary place for getting health care or mental health care, you can get everything taken care at that office, they co-ordinate everything for you.

Michael Booth, editor of Health Elevations, the quarterly publication of the Colorado Health Foundation says more and more doctors are integrating their practices with other practitioners.  One of the articles featured in the journal looks at how safety net clinics are in many ways leading the way in integrating health care with dental practitioners, nutritionists and other health care providers.
