What is it like to eat with $30 a week? That is the average amount someone is given in SNAP benefits. That’s the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or foodstamps.
Michael Booth is the editor of Health Elevations, the quarterly publication of the Colorado Health Foundation. He took the SNAP challenge… to live on a food budget of $30 a week, or $1.45 a meal. He writes about the experience in Health Elevations and he kept an audio diary for KGNU.
