Sen. Bennett calls for investigation into Grand Junction VA mistreatment

Rodger Holmes was a Vietnam Veteran who until earlier this year was in relatively good health and enjoying life. A problem with his liver was incorrectly treated by the VA in Grand Junction over the course of several months and now as a result Roger entered end of life care in early December. Chris Blumenstein, the VA social worker who was assigned to his case resigned in protest of Rodger’s care saying it was systemic of larger problems at the VA. Yesterday, Sen. Michael Bennet announced that he is asking the VA Office of Inspector General for a full investigation of Rodger’s care at the Grand Junction VA Medical Center. Chris Blumenstein says yesterday’s announcement is bittersweet given Rodger’s deteriorating health. (ed. note: Rodger Holmes passed away on Dec 20th)
