Queer Grief: Processing Loss in the LGBTQ+ Community KGNU News

Everyone grieves personal losses throughout their lives – many things besides deaths.  But there are also many ways that different types of loss are disenfranchised, unaccepted or disallowed. The LGBTQ+ community faces losses distinct to the lifelong experience of being queer.  In this show, we’ll talk about the kinds of grief events and attitudes that marginalize and disenfranchise this community and how we can be more supportive.

Host Kim Mooney speaks with Bruce Parker, Deputy Directory of Out Boulder County and Julia Condolora, a trans woman and an advocate for the trans community working with the Transgender Center of the Rockies, a program of Mile High Behavioral Health Care.

On Death & Dying airs quarterly on A Public Affair, KGNU’s weekday morning show featuring in-depth discussions on local issues. Click here to listen to other episodes of A Public Affair.
