Parents Organize to Keep American Indian Academy of Denver Open

Administrators at Denver Public Schools have been considering a number of school closures, citing low enrollment numbers. Earlier this month, the district’s school board voted against closing 10 DPS schools, but another school – separate from those ten – still faces the possibility of closure. The American Indian Academy of Denver is opened in 2020 as a charter school but may lose its charter status. KGNU’s Shannon Young spoke with Veronica Lighteninghorse Perez, parent of a student and member of the school’s Family Leadership Council.
