New Vista High School – Fall Semester of 2022

As part of New Vista High School’s workshops, taught by community teachers and experts, students work with KGNU Media Gardens trainers to learn essential audio production techniques and produce short podcasts on topics of their interest. Students are also encouraged to use this workshop as an opportunity to expand upon other school related or independent projects that include an audio element. The podcasts from the fall semester of 2022 cover a variety of topics, including dangerous plants, unethical production methods of certain makeup/cosmetic companies, violence in rural Mexico, among others. One of this semester’s highlights was participant, Atlas Kleinman, being featured on KGNU’s OutSources Collective, sharing and discussing his “Compendium of Poems” on queerness.
