Political grief: dealing with feelings of despair about our world KGNU News
On Death and Dying is a quarterly show hosted by Kim Mooney, certified Thanatologist, author, and founder of Practically Dying. In her work, Mooney deals with grief, and in today’s episode, a discussion with nurse Maggie Compernolle about a particular kind of grief: Political grief. Political grief is raging right now, in our families, our communities, our country and our world. It affects every part of being human as physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social beings.
To people of any political persuasion, it may feel out of control and insurmountable. Regardless of personal political views, how do we handle endless broken-heartedness, hopelessness and rage, highly-manipulated separation from each other, and the despair of an imagined broken future. Mooney and Compernolle explore the characteristics of political grief, and talk about how to stay afloat in deep uncertainty.
