On today’s A Public Affair, it’s a conversation about bringing environmental literacy to youth. Martin Ogle is the founder of Entrepreneurial Earth, LLC and the ALL Careers Approach, a program for young people that broadens how they understand bringing climate and environmental awareness to their careers. Ogle is the organizer of a free, public event on Dec. 9 at the Boulder Library called “Connecting Youth to Business and ALL Business to the Environment.”

Danny Bernard is a high schooler who will be on a panel at that event. Through his club, the Fairview Institute, Bernard is advocating for a bond issue that would fund green energy projects for the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD). Ogle and Bernard joined KGNU’s Abby O’Brien to talk about environmental literacy, Ogle’s program, Bernard’s climate advocacy, and what he wants to be when he grows up.

To other youth, Bernard says “ If you can go out and make some form of positive change in the world happen, I beg you to do it. It will start a cascade of things that will not only positively impact your life, but it will impact the lives of the people around you. And it might make you even have a slightly less nihilistic view of our future.”

This story aired on A Public Affair, KGNU’s weekday morning show featuring in-depth discussions on local news issues. Click here to listen to other episodes of A Public Affair.
