Colorado Early Voting Rates Up
Voter participation is up in Colorado this year.
That’s according to early voting data from the state’s 64 county clerks.
With election day just one week away, more than 354,000 ballots have been returned, as of the end of last week. That compares to just over 266,000 ballots returned at the same time two years ago. The rate of early ballot returns means that Colorado could have its highest off-year election turnout since 2019, according to Colorado Newsline.
There are numerous issues on the fall ballot. In addition to local mayoral and city council races, there are two key statewide issues before voters. Propositions LL and MM would help to fund school meals for all Colorado children, regardless of financial need.
Voters will also determine the makeup of school boards in districts across the state. That includes the Boulder Valley School District, Denver Public Schools, Jefferson County, Adams 12, and Aurora.
Boulder County Vote Early Day
Meanwhile, there are four opportunities to vote early in Boulder County today.
Boulder County Elections is partnering with four organizations and businesses for Vote Early Day events.
The first one begins at 9 a.m. this morning at the All Roads Shelter in Boulder, at 4869 Broadway, and runs until 11 a.m.
The second is at the Emergency Family Assistance Association, also in Boulder, at 1575 Yarmouth Avenue. That one starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m. this afternoon. The Association for Community Living in Longmont is holding its Vote Early Day event this afternoon, from 2-4 p.m. They’re at 624 Coffman Street.
Finally, Avery Brewing is holding a Vote Early event from 4-6 p.m. They’re at 4910 Nautilus Court North in Gunbarrel. Voters at each of these events can drop off mail-in ballots, register to vote or update their registration, get answers to election-related questions, and pick up an “I voted” sticker.
In addition, non-perishable food donations can be made at the Emergency Family Assistance Association, and used towels and blankets can be donated at All Roads, according to a Boulder County press release. Vote Early Day is part of a nationwide movement to increase participation, and to make sure everyone knows their voting rights.

ICE Policy Struck Down
A federal immigration policy that denied bond hearings to immigrants in detention has been overturned. A district judge in Colorado struck down the detention policy last week.
The ruling ends a policy that denied bond hearings to immigrants who entered the United States without authorization, applying even in cases where the immigrant had been in the country for decades.
It was one of five recent rulings by District Court judges in Colorado that went against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE. Immigration attorneys say the rulings represent a “clean sweep” against the Trump administration.
An attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union said the rulings make sense, because the more lenient interpretations of immigration law has been the policy for three decades.
One of the district judges wrote that policy changes by the Trump administration have resulted in many noncitizens being detained without a hearing, while another said that when people are detained, they are at least entitled to a bond hearing.
Boulder Budget Approved
The City of Boulder City Council has approved the city’s budget for the coming year. The council passed it on an eight-to-one vote at their meeting last week.
The approved budget sits at $521 million, an eleven percent decrease from the 2025 budget. The Daily Camera reports the new budget eliminates nineteen jobs, and includes, departmental budget decreases.
