New Pirate Musical “The Legend of Anne Bonny” Premiers at People’s Building

Premiering at the People’s Building in Aurora August 23rd is a brand new musical presented as a collaboration between Two Cent Lion and Shifted Lens Theatre company. It is called The Legend of Anne Bonny and it melds the real history of American Pirate Anne Bonny, with dark oceanic folklore, queer women’s history, and it explores all the seafaring heroes and sinners who, in equal parts, were damned. KGNU’s Veronica Straight-Lingo spoke with Lexie Lazear, with Shifted Lens theater company and Director of The Legend of Anne Bonny, along with Emy Macquire, the composer, playwright and lead, to discuss how this show came about.
