What is racial literacy? This CWA panelist has the answer

Americans in the US have found countless ways to not discuss the realities of racism in this country. Terms like diversity, multiculturalism, equality are all terms that have moved discussions about racism two steps forward but then one step back.

Dr. Jennifer Ho is director of the Center for Humanities & the Arts and professor of Ethnic Studies at CU Boulder, where she teaches courses on Asian American culture and critical race theory. She is part of a panel today at CU Boulder’s Conference of World Affairs to discuss a new term to discuss racism: racial literacy.

KGNU’s Myrna Morales talked with Ho about what racial literacy means and if it can be a tool to help white people in particular feel more secure talking about race.
