Outsources: Jennicet Gutierrez, transgender Latina activist

On Outsources Monday, March 28, KGNU’s Karen Raforth speaks with Jennicet Gutierrez, a transgender Latina activist and organizer from Mexico living in Los Angeles.  Jennicet co-founded Familia: Trans Queer Liberation Movement.  She believes in the importance of uplifting and centering voices of trans women of color in all racial justice work. Jennicet organizes to end deportations and the criminalization of immigrants and all people of color. In June 2015 she disrupted a speech President Obama was making to the queer community at the White House to bring attention to the violence that undocumented trans women face in detention centers.
