Yak Girl

Dorje Dolman was born in one of the remotest parts of the world…the Dolpo region in North Western Nepal at an elevation of 13,000.

When she was growing up there there were no schools, no medical care and no roads…people would have to travel by foot to reach Kathmandu and that would take a month.

Dorje was the oldest of 11 and 5 of her siblings died. She faced her own significant medical issues which resulted in her coming to the US with an American family to get treatment. Ultimately she graduated from CU Boulder and became an artist and a pre-school teacher.  She writes about her life in a new memoir Yak Girl.
