Colorado has seen a 72% decline in the western bumble bee, according to a recent study from the National Academy of Sciences. Advocacy groups have been lobbying lawmakers for years to increase legal protections for bees and other animals that play important roles in the food and flora ecosystems. Their activities are resulting in policy changes.
Colorado legislatures voted in favor of a new bill that removes neonicotinoids from retail shelves this week. SB266 will now head to the governor’s desk for his signature.
