“When we lose our fear, they lose their power”: Hear from individuals who attended the May Day protests last Thursday

Hundreds of thousands of people rallied around the world last Thursday in May Day protests that united participants in anger over President Donald Trump’s agenda.

May Day, also commonly referred to as International Workers Day, isn’t just a commemorative holiday acknowledging the importance of workers’ rights – this year especially, in the U.S., it was a call to action to stand up for immigrant workers, union leaders, diversity initiatives, federal employees, and aggressive tariffs – among other pieces of the administration’s agenda.

In Denver, over 40 labor unions and 10 community organizations came together to organize in front of the Capitol building and honor the legacy of workforces in this country. Their collective message was loud and clear, as you heard from two organizers on Thursday’s Morning Magazine: When we lose our fear, they lose their power.

KGNU’s Grace Maruska attended Denver’s protest and heard from many speakers and attendees.

There were a number of actions on Thursday across Colorado, as well as around the world. KGNU’s Don Davis attended the protest on Rayleigh Rd. and Broadway in Boulder.
