Both political parties are trying to unify behind their gubernatorial nominees. Republicans recently held a unity tour and Democrats rallied at the state capitol Friday. Our statehouse reporter Bente Birkeland has more.

Democratic congressman Jared Polis was joined by top Democratic leaders including members of congress, Denver’s mayor and Governor John Hickenlooper – who has not always seen eye to with Polis. He says Polis’s pledge to get Colorado to 100 percent renewable energy by the year 2040 seems pretty radical, but is also a fair aspiration.
“I’ve said we’re going to be all renewable eventually. We’re going to cleaner energy at a lower cost. And that is renewable. Wind now is cheaper than natural gas, is cheaper than coal.”
All of the Republican gubernatorial primary candidates joined the GOP nominee Walker Stapleton for their own event to bring the base together. Both sides say this year’s race will require all hands to be on deck to win in the fall.
