Thousands flock to Denver Capitol building to protest fascism

Thousands upon thousands flocked to state capitols, courthouses, and city halls across the country yesterday, following calls to peacefully stand up for American democracy. Calls to action via social media came from what seemed like all directions – organizers, local students, a new organization you heard from yesterday called American Opposition, spearheaded by Carlos Álvarez-Aranyos.

Protestors held signs decrying much about the current administration, and expressing support for immigrants.

Donald Trump, Elon Musk, the growing presence of fascism in the U.S., and Project 2025 – the 900-page policy “wish list” of sorts that seeks to reshape the federal government by removing checks on executive power in favor of right-wing, ultra-conservative policies – were at the heart of many peoples’ anger.

The Capitol was colored by flags of all sorts – Pride flags, U.S. flags, Pan-African flags, Mexico flags.

KGNU’s Jackie Sedley went down to the Capitol yesterday, as did KGNU’s Dave Ashton. They both spoke with protestors on the ground and listened to many organizers and advocates speak on the Capitol steps. Here are some of those individuals:
