Many public spaces weren’t designed with neurodivergent individuals in mind. As a result, some parents avoid taking their children to playgrounds, museums, and even restaurants—not because they want to stay home, but because they’ve been stared at, judged, or even asked to leave when their child’s needs, behaviors, or reactions weren’t understood.
Third Place for Kids wants to fill that gap, and build a space with inclusion and safety at the forefront.
Kayla Pallace is Chief Development Officer of Third Place for Kids, a first-of-its-kind nonprofit in Colorado that’s seeking to change the way we think about neurodivergence and inclusion. It launches this spring right here in Colorado. KGNU’s Grace Maruska spoke with Pallace to learn more about the work her and her team at Third Place for Kids are doing.
Third Place for Kids is in Parker, Colorado, just a little west of main street. You can find more information here.
