Heads of NPR and PBS testify before Congress

The heads of the nation’s two largest public broadcasters testified before Congress to a Department of Government Efficiency subcommittee.

National Public Radio (NPR)’s Katherine Maher and the Public Broadcasting System (PBS)’s Paula Kerger represented their respective networks and defended the value of public media.

The hearing, titled “Anti-American Airwaves: holding the heads of NPR and PBS accountable,” was led by Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Also testifying before Congress were Ed Ulman, the president and CEO of Alaska Public Media, and Mike Gonzalez, a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation.

However, due to our limited time, you’ll be hearing primarily from Maher and Kerger, as well as Greene and other members of Congress.

Greene and other Republican leaders are still set on calling for the complete and total defunding and dismantling of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
