The Intersection of food justice and race

“12% of white children are affected by food insecurity in Colorado while 35% of Latino children are affected by food insecurity.”
CU Boulder student Susan Howard says there is an array of ways that food insecurity interacts with food economic status and race.  Howard is in the INVST program at CU which is partnering with Boulder Food Rescue to host the Forward Food Summit on April 18th.  Nathan Zick-Smith, another INVST student says the time is right to further explore these issues. “Considering the climate regarding race in the country right now, this is really an appropriate time to explore how the food justice movement can take an intentional turn and focus on race.”
