This past weekend there were nationwide protests against The xl pipeline. The protests were organized by The Cowboy Indian Alliance, a group of ranchers, farmers and tribal communities from along the pipeline route. This past weekend, a group of Denver activists headed to the Pineridge reservation in South Dakota for a mocassins on the ground training. The trainings are hosted by affected communities and participants receive training in nonviolent direct action, media and medic training. About a dozen people attended from Colorado. KGNU spoke to Robert Shinay, a member of the Kiowa Nation, from Denver.
