Tech Talks: Technology and The Inauguration Part 1

On January 20th, 2017 president Donald Trump and vice president Mike Pence were inaugurated. This is the first inauguration that social media has had a massive influence in the inauguration and the spread of opinions around it. In the past few years, social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have been on the rise. More and more people are getting involved in these platforms and have used them in a variety of different ways. Today we held a roundtable discussing the effects of technology on the inauguration. We talked about how it was used to spread information about the inauguration (both true and false), how it has affected people’s perspective of the new president, and how it has marked a new era in presidential media coverage.
