“Respect and honor:” Iranian students ring in Persian new year at CU Boulder Jack Armstrong

Celebrated by nearly 300 million people across the world, Nowruz is the Persian new year, which comes on the arrival of spring. The celebration marks the first day on the Iranian calendar, and this year the celebration takes place on Friday, Mar. 20. The holiday is known for several traditions, with symbols and rituals focusing on health, fertility, nature, and new beginnings.

KGNU’s Jack Armstrong takes us to a Nowruz celebration at the University of Colorado Boulder to hear more about the holiday, at a time when the United States and Israel are intensifying military action in Iran.
