Real time Information for Public Transit Users

RTD is now providing real time data to app developers. That GPS real time information will allow travelers to track where their bus is and when it will arrive at a stop. The Transit App is already using RTD real time data with Google Maps and multiple other app developers likely to follow. Tina Jaquez, RTD Manager of Public Relations told KGNU’s Hannah Leigh Myers that RTD is making their GPS data available to app developers “right now we have about 20-25 developers who have contacted us for the data and we’re aware of one app that’s actually out there right now that’s called the Transit App.”  Jaquez says real time info on bus arrival is only available for local routes right now, but she says info on light rail and regional routes are coming in the future.
