City of New York Settles Lawsuit for the Police Killing of Unarmed Teenager, Ramarley Graham

NEW YORK-Today officials in New York City announced another payout for a police shooting of an unarmed black teenager.  The family of Ramarley Graham will be compensated $3.9 million after the Feb 2, 2012 shooting by New York City police officer Richard Haste, 33.   Graham was shot to death by Haste inside his grandmother’s home.  In what has become a string of lawsuit settlement payouts every several months, this case became instrumental in the re-examining of New York City’s “Stop and Frisk” practice, that numbers showed heavily targeted people of color.
