Poems For My White Friends

Norma Johnson is a Boulder based poet, educator and artist whose poetry about race is being used by educators across the country to inspire awareness and discussion about race, privilege and class.

We are airing poems from her collection “Poems For My White Friends” on Wednesday Mornings on the Morning Magazine, starting on Wednesday December 30th with the poem I Didn’t Tell You.

“This poem was a cry from my heart to speak on a deeper level to my white friends and to attempt to relay to them that because of race, there is a palpable difference in the way our daily lives play out. And to my friends of darker hues, I offer this gift of voice.”
