In continuing with our ongoing coverage of the Climate Talks in Lima, Peru we hear coverage from the People’s Climate March.
The 20th annual UN Climate Summit is winding down this week. The march usually takes place on the weekend that separates the two weeks of talks, but this year organizers planned the event to be held on International Human Rights Day. The focus was on the relationship between human rights and climate change, emphasizing that the poorest countries and communities are hit the hardest.
The piece begins with marchers shouting “Water is a treasure, worth more than gold!,” and “We want corn, we want water!” and “Water YES! Gold NO!!”
