On A Public Affair, KGNU’s Elena Klaver brings us a conversation with birder Nicholas Komar about his new book, “The Biggest Year in American Birding.”

This book follows Komar as he sets out on a yearlong effort to find the most species of birds in a single year in the US and its territories.

Komar discusses the meaningful moments and challenges he encountered on his journey to discover 900 species, including his diagnosis with Young-Onset Parkinson’s Disease.
